A good story about one of our Geelong Supercats Legends Cal Bruton and his involvement in the community and how he's helping out the future of the game.

Cal Bruton was a playground legend growing up in Queens New York, made his way to Australia in 1979 and then proceeded to revolutionise the development of Australia’s then fledgling National Basketball League (NBL).

Fittingly, in the very same year that the NBL has honoured him as an ambassador of its newly launched competition, Cal continues to dish out assists in the Canberra community by helping budding young indigenous talent Isaac Maher on his way to the Australian Under 14 Championships.
Lennock Motors Phillip, Cal’s employer, has this week joined him in sponsoring the ACT Under 14 Boys team and Isaac as they prepare for their trip to Darwin in late September to contest the Championships.

Lennock Motors has a strong ethic of contribution and a history of supporting local community, charities and sporting clubs. This current sponsorship sees a philosophical alignment between Cal’s commitment to youth basketball and Lennock’s increased focus in the field of youth wellbeing. Lennock Volkswagen and Dealer Principal Peter Munday have been working with the Canberra Hospital Foundation for 2 years to build a dedicated wing for the inpatient care of adolescent’s children which now has been established in the New Woman’s and Children’s Hospital and will open end of October 2013.
