Our feature Geelong Supercats Legend today is Joey Wright.
Long
before he took over the coaching reigns of the Brisbane Bullets back in
2003, Joey Wright played for the Geelong Supercats in ‘95 and ‘96. In his
first year in the NBL, Wright was known as one of the best guards in the
league, and had one of the most memorable games of the 90s when in June
1995, he went 24 from 25 from the free throw line (a current NBL record
for most attempts and most free throws made in a game). He finished the
game with a triple double scoring 28 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds.
In the ’95 season, Joey averaged 22.2
points, 5.8 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 2.2 triples per game.
